Akshay Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days of the year and is marked by the purchase gold and property and worship of Vishnu. It is celebrated on the third lunar day of the Shukla paksha of the Indian month of Vaisakh(April-May). It is also celebrated by the Jains who commemorate their first Tirthankar Rishabhanatha on this day.
